Jodar is almost impossible to beat right now, he’s so strong and so confident

But what a match against Fonseca, I’m impressed by the quality of Jodar’s game and the way he manages matches mentally too, he looks so experienced. He felt the cramps coming in the third set and instead of tightening up he hit even harder and made sure to finish quickly, it was too fast even for Fonseca.. He’s playing like hardened steel this week, his power is phenomenal and with a rest day he’ll still be fresh enough to normally get through another round. On top of that, his next opponent is still within his reach.

Kopriva is in the round of 16 of a Masters 1000 for the first time in his career and he deserves it given the level he can reach at his peak. His down-the-line backhand will once again be his number one weapon tomorrow, and he’ll have to serve better than usual and raise his level again because we can consider Jodar a top player. I think in terms of current level and confidence, Kopriva is capable of taking a set or at least hanging in there, but he’s a player who feels a lot of pressure in front of a crowd/in a high-stakes match, which worries me. The other negative point is that Jodar’s power could stop him from setting up his game and playing at his own rhythm; I don’t like the match-up IF Jodar keeps playing at this level.

The Spaniard is young, he still has big lapses in some of his matches and Kopriva has an unorthodox game that can get really annoying to face..
