Finish on a high note

Jodar needs to use this match to gain experience and have a blast on the court

Despite an exceptional level of play for several weeks now, Jodar still has his limits. They’re particularly high, but Sinner is clearly above him. The Spaniard was once again impressive yesterday in a quick match, but it was against a player who was badly lacking in power and in solutions to trouble him. Sinner does everything better, and above all he’s going to prevent Jodar from being the one dictating the points whenever possible. He’s also one of the rare players on tour who plays even faster than him.

Sinner is gaining momentum this week, but he too has just beaten two guys who were not at all equipped to bother him. Whether it’s Moller or Norrie, they’re both hard workers, which doesn’t bother the Italian. We’ve seen that a profile like Bonzi, who challenged him offensively, was more annoying, and Jodar has that ability to take the ball early on the return and on both sides. He has extraordinary power and will be able to win points in short patterns. I’m not as categorical, in the sense that sometimes before facing Sinner, we know the guy doesn’t have the game at all and he’s going to get destroyed. Here I think Jodar has a few weapons at his disposal. I’d say the tendency is more towards the over on games.
