Frenchman Adrian Mannarino's statistics on clay are not impressive. He is on a five-game losing streak this year on this surface, a streak that also extended to 2024. In 2025, he won a few matches, but these were either Challenger tournaments or in Houston, a very particular American clay-court tournament. His game doesn't adapt well to the surface for several reasons. He struggles to outmaneuver his opponent and generate sufficient power while maintaining consistency. The main reason is his atypical style, which involves taking the ball early with a short preparation and little topspin. In contrast, the typical clay-court player drops back from the baseline, hits a lot of topspin, launches long shots, and has the power to tire out their opponent without making many errors. Today, the Frenchman plays against Bosnian Damir Dzumhur, against whom he has already won four times in five encounters, but never on today's surface. However, the Bosnian isn't playing very well at the moment. Since Monte Carlo, his performances have been mediocre, with the exception of a victory against the Italian Bellucci, a style of play he enjoys.
