Kypson already roasted?

The American has just come out of the qualifiers by beating Droguet at the end of an extremely tight match that he won with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.

Kypson is really surprising. For an American, he does extremely well on clay. He has a fairly loopy forehand that suits this surface well. On top of that, he’s quite reliable physically and capable of being very patient. He stayed solid throughout his win over Droguet and ended up getting the better of the Frenchman physically, since Droguet completely cramped up and fell apart in the deciding tiebreak. It’s a very fine win for Kypson, which confirms once again that he’s a very solid player, even on clay, capable of hitting big shots from time to time.

With Vukic, it’s much more complicated. The Australian still hasn’t won a match on clay this season, even though he hasn’t only played against monsters. Historically, he has had a few results on this surface because he maintains above-average serving quality and his forehand is also naturally fairly loopy. He’s a serious player, very professional and solid enough to beat some players on the main tour. Except you can clearly feel that this year, something’s missing. I can’t tell if it’s mental or physical, but he’s just not as compact and stable as before.
