Sergeant Ugo on a mission!
The Frenchman gave us a remarkable match to beat an opponent who had nonetheless been in great form lately.
An unexpected win for the French player in the first round, given the problems he usually has on clay and his current poor form compared to Kopriva. The Frenchman steamrolled him with his usual hard-hitting, aggressive tennis, even on this surface, and it worked very well. He’s capable of playing good matches, tennis-wise. His clay-court skills will never be very high, but he’s got fire in his arm and can rely on that.
This second round once again looks tough against an in-form player who is much more comfortable than he is on clay. But just like in the previous round, we know Ugo is capable of anything.
On his side, Prizmic knocked out Djokovic, his idol, in a match he controlled overall. The Croatian keeps confirming his level with more and more wins, bringing his total to 25 victories this season for only 8 losses.
He’s clearly the favorite in this match, and quite comfortably so. There’s a gap in level on clay and also a pretty clear difference in form. However, Prizmic is an extremely nervous player and capable of throwing away sets from time to time.
