Belgium is entering uncharted territory

Two months ago, Hanne Vandewinkel still didn’t even know what a WTA 250 main draw was. The 21-year-old from Limburg has climbed the ranks at a pace that even surprises her coaches, Romain Barbosa and Kirsten Flipkens: three ITF titles in February and March, a top-100 breakthrough in April, and now Rabat, where she’s discovering a level she has almost never experienced on clay. Her hard-court game is sharp, aggressive, built for speed. On clay, however, her WTA numbers come down to one win and one loss, and the 2026 clay stats reveal a player who struggles as soon as the pressure rises.

Panna Udvardy doesn’t have that problem. The 27-year-old Hungarian has built her entire career on clay: 13 ITF titles on the surface, a final in Bogota in 2026 on that same red dirt. Coached by Martin Torretta and Bastien Fazincani, she knows exactly how to handle long rallies, create break opportunities, and manage tiebreaks. Against a player stepping into a world she doesn’t know yet, her experience and consistency on clay carry serious weight.
