Another big move coming for Buse?

The Peruvian has just knocked out the defending champion and is now going after Mensik.

Very good match from Buse, who still hasn’t been broken since the start of the week, and he came from the qualifiers. He didn’t play anyone big to get into the main draw, but now he’s just pulled off a genuinely big win against Coboli, and confirmed that he’s a really tough player. You really don’t want to play him, and even less so in a first round.

He was devilishly solid today, but you could also say that Coboli was really tight and under pressure in this match because he was defending his title. We saw the bad version of the Italian, and when on the other side there’s a guy who doesn’t give away a single point, it’s tough for him. Tomorrow, a very different type of opponent is waiting for him.

Mensik is much more powerful, especially on serve, where he gets a good number of free points. He’s simply better at making the difference in rallies, while also being excellent on the counter, and he’s not afraid to work the points for a long time if needed. I find him pretty good when opponents are able to take the initiative against him. On the other hand, when he has to do too much of that himself, it’s a bit more complicated because his forehand isn’t at the same level as his backhand.

He was comfortable in the match against Struff, but now, it’s a totally different type of opponent waiting for him tomorrow. That’s why it worries me a bit if we just take that into account, but in terms of overall level and free points, he’s supposed to have what it takes to make life easier for himself.
