Buse is in the process of dominating every seeded player he faces, and now it's Humbert's turn to go through this ordeal.

After a fine win over Cobolli, the defending champion, Buse backed it up today by crushing Mensik, without losing his serve once again. The score might look very one‑sided, but that’s the result of a mix of several factors. First, Buse played his best tennis. He was outstanding, while Mensik was very poor, both on serve and mentally, because of conditions that weren’t really conducive to good tennis. It’s disappointing from the Czech, but even on a good day, I think he would still have had a high chance of losing to this version of Buse.

He’s more confident than ever now, and Humbert isn’t going to scare him.

Our Frenchman is getting a bit of his smile back with a second consecutive win in a deciding tie-break, which once again shows he’s a player you can definitely call clutch. He was helped by the fact that the roof was closed during his match, which makes the clay relatively fast, or at least helps him enough to hold serve. We’re seeing a good version of the Frenchman this week, but he also faced a disappointing Khachanov.

He’s playing well this week, and even though Roland is getting closer, he’s not the kind of player who pictures himself going far there. We can be sure he’ll give everything this week to go as deep as possible.

This will be a first meeting between these two players. Obviously, Buse has an advantage on this surface. He’s naturally built to perform well on it, but he also has the edge in terms of recent momentum and confidence. All that makes him a strong favorite in this match, but we should be careful not to underestimate Humbert too much, as he can go far in this kind of week.
