Miomir + Grand Slam = often big epic battles. Different this year?

After pretty much 4 first-round exits in a row to start his clay-court season, Miomir went and won the Valencia Challenger, beating some solid clay-courters. What the hell did he do? He just fell victim to the Miomir law, meaning: “good match, nothing much to blame himself for, but a loss.” It’s a classic for him, but Marcos and I had still clearly noticed that his level was still there.

As for Fabian, I feel like that’s a bit less the case. He plays good matches here and there, but his level fluctuates. At Roland, he doesn’t have good memories, especially with bad draws. I prefer his game on a slow clay court than at Roland. He has time to unload his straight rockets and his drop shots. Here, he’s going to play a guy who counterpunches brilliantly and who is a Grand Slam player. Their last match came down to very little, and today, I put the small details on the Serbian’s side.
