3 sets that feel like 5 hours?

Maybe THE match where we most believe in at least 4 sets, it's supposed to last an eternity.

Borges is a Grand Slam specialist; whatever the format, he always manages to pull something off in these tournaments when nobody expects it. I also have to say he gets insanely lucky every time: this season he took advantage of FAA’s retirement to pick up points at the Australian Open, and we remember that last year, right here, he benefited from an injured Ruud to get the win. He’s always in the right spots, that sly guy. But it also comes from his huge mental strength: he complains a lot on court, but he will NEVER give up. I’ve seen him pull off insane comebacks while playing badly but still believing, and in this kind of format that’s an exceptional quality.

Those are Borges’ strengths and I think we’re dealing with a serious contender mentally. Etcheverry is also a specialist in grinding out long wins, no matter the level of play. He’s capable of playing for 5 hours if needed, and he makes up for sometimes average tennis with massive stability and consistency. He’s just lost a match that was almost impossible to lose against Paul, and I think I saw him throw his racket for the first time in his life! I don’t think it’ll affect him though, since we’re talking about Roland-Garros, his favorite tournament!

They played each other in Barcelona and Borges won by playing some great tennis while Etche was really disappointing. I think the match-up is nice for Borges, who has the luxury of being able to attack and dictate play; he’s not really bothered by Etcheverry’s game. What he really hates are big servers/ultra-aggressive and powerful players. He did pull out of Geneva without giving a reason though, that’s the only thing holding me back...
