A hope for Roman?
Brilliant in qualifying, Safiullin draws one of the worst seeds!
Despite a strong challenge from Gentzsch, the Russian showed he’d found his level again during qualifying. He plays fast, takes the ball early on return, he’s structured, and he doesn’t flinch.
That said... the Russian did show some physical limitations, and unfortunately he doesn’t have a clay-courter’s game. Against the Norwegian’s heavy, high-bouncing trajectories, he’s going to come unstuck.
On the other hand, do I really feel like going on Ruud at that price, or even a -1.5 sets handicap?
