No respite for Félix.
The Canadian is coming off a legendary match and is following it up with another player ready to give him a hard time.
Big win for Félix Auger-Aliassime in the first round against the tenacious Altmaier, who once again really showed his level. Can we say it's a good win from Auger-Aliassime? I’m tempted to say no, only the result is positive, but in terms of his game, my god, it was still weak, especially on the backhand side. But mentally, Félix knows how to feed off this kind of win, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays a much better match next time.
He now faces Burruchaga, another player who’s hard to maneuver and who’s already pulled off a few nice little upsets this season. However, his intensity has clearly dropped over the last few tournaments. He won a low-quality match against Baez. I’m not convinced that, like Altmaier, he’s capable of bothering Auger-Aliassime that much.
He’s capable of it, but with Altmaier, we were almost convinced he was going to do it, whereas Burruchaga doesn’t have that famous consistency and his level fluctuates a bit too much.
