No luck for the Dutch.

Two home players facing each other in a home tournament is always annoying. But I think one of them is still happy with the draw.

I'm going to be quite direct in this analysis, because for me, Griekspoor is a very clear favorite. For several reasons, the Dutchman is excellent on grass. He's already won this tournament and plays superb tennis on this surface, whether it's the quality of his serve, his net play, or his very effective backhand slice. He's particularly hard to beat on grass. I'll also add that, in general, tournaments at home suit him quite well, with some particularly impressive performances in the past, notably in Rotterdam and in the Davis Cup.

In this match, he loses the advantage of the home crowd because it will be 50-50, but he is someone who, in general, likes to play at home.

And this is definitely less the case for Van De Zandschulp, who doesn't like pressure, and especially not grass. This surface doesn't suit his strengths at all. His strengths are defense and counter-attacking, as well as heavy, powerful shots. On grass, these shots have much less effect. I remember seeing him play on this surface several times, a bit like a raccoon. He manages to slide intentionally and doesn't seem too concerned about movement. This can be a good thing, but the rest of his game doesn't work very well for him. I think that's the case everywhere with him. There's no perfect condition for him to play at his best. He's capable of beating a top 10 player unexpectedly or losing to a top 200 player when everyone thought he was in good form. All this to say that even if grass seems disastrous for him, you have to be wary of it in the first round.

The head-to-head record between these two players is 3-3, and they should know each other very well. I see an interesting matchup for Van De Zandschulp on certain surfaces and in different conditions. Griekspoor's game on grass should be effective enough to secure the win.
