The German wild card can be a real junkyard dog!

Discovered on the side of the court at Roland in the third round of qualifying against Safiullin, his main quality is that he never gives up. More motivated than ever to make it into the Roland main draw, he almost overturned the established order by taking Safiullin to a third set in a physical match that surely had an impact on the Russian. As a wild card here, he’s going to give it everything he’s got.

On the other hand, we’re on grass this time, and that changes quite a lot. He has never played an official match on grass at pro level. And he’s facing a guy who loves the surface and has 4 weeks to grab as many ATP points as possible (and some cash ;)).

I’m not satisfied with the match-up for the German either, who was good at neutralizing Safiullin’s power and aggression, even though I must admit I barely know him.
