Big Ben, it’s time ;)
Even though he was really strong at the very start of the season, Ben Shelton has been disappointing in Grand Slams, which is not like him at all!
Between the Grand Slam tournaments, you can expect anything from Shelton. At a 250, he might take it a bit lightly and use it to “practice.” And that’s even on grass, with only three weeks of preparation before Wimbledon. And anyway, he’s going to need adjustments no matter what.
On the other side, a Giron who’s too powerful and too strong on serve for Agut. The American once again dropped his level when it came time to close, and that really shouldn’t happen again against Shelton because he has less margin.
What I like about Marcos is that he’s always bothered Ben. He knows how to make him play, make him miss, and ask him the right questions. Ben shows up for his first match against a guy he struggles to play his best tennis against and has to dig deep in a real battle. Not the best draw for him, and guess what? The odds still don’t seem to have adjusted...
