Kamil, new status?
A very fine and recent winner on Sunday in ’s‑Hertogenbosch against ADM, Kamil Majchrzak already has to go again!
And in an ATP main-tour tournament, it's the first time this has happened to him! Is that why he's the underdog?
The guy has been beating, for two weeks now, some really solid players on grass. Sure, they’re not all fully tuned up on the surface yet, that’s clear, but you still have to beat them! Granted, his opponent Jiri Lehecka is a real handful on grass and showed a nice level after his first-round match last week.
But here we are at Queen’s, and it’s a bit like Hertogenbosch, maybe a bit faster. And Kamil has a good profile as a mobile guy to make Jiri play, and we know that when you manage to neutralize the Czech’s power, that’s already a very good start.
So I find the odds a bit unfair for "just" saying that the back-to-back run will be difficult. It’s true that logically you might have a bit less fire after just winning a tournament, especially your first one. But it depends on the guys. Why slow down when the grass season is super short and you’re playing super well on the surface?
