So Elie, are you owning up to it?
Alright okay, I said that if Shapo won a tough match in his R1, he'd win the tournament!
So happy to finally be playing on grass, and to have finally gotten that win, that I’m predicting a big level from Shapo from now on. We know his lumberjack-style game. His backhand is good at the moment. And, as Marcos rightly said, such a powerful tennis game can bother ADM, just like Diallo’s tennis bothered him.
It has to be said that ADM looked pretty stressed. You can feel he’s still searching for confidence. Let me remind you that he lost his final on a double fault, and he got broken right from the start against Diallo. And anyway, you can clearly see he’s tense. This tournament is logically important for him, and I think he lost in the early rounds in the last two editions. This time he’ll be a bit better, but against a fired-up Shapo, doubts can creep in!
In terms of match-up, ADM leads 5–1 and kind of seems like his kryptonite. But each match seems open to interpretation to me (one on clay, one in Stockholm where it’s super slow, one at the ATP Cup in Australia...). And they were really tight! So let’s go check the odds right away.
