Another ultra-closed match again?
No breaks for these two players during their quarterfinal wins.
Partly because of the closed roof but also because we're on grass and everyone is serving particularly well, the margins are tight and we end up with super close scorelines. Zverev didn't find the solution on return against Collignon but he did have a few chances and I liked his level from the baseline, you can feel a guy who's confident and not tense at all, it's good stuff.
Fritz is in form too and really showcasing the quality of his serve, he's deadly and will once again be super hard to break, he just came up clutch against Shelton as well, a big confidence boost against a player he doesn’t beat that often. He's leading 10–5 against Zverev in the head-to-head, there are a few matches you could take out but otherwise the trend is still in the American’s favor, he serves almost as well as Z and knows how to be strong from the baseline. I can totally understand why a historically passive Zverev has always struggled against his profile.
It's good for Zverev but the change is more visible away from grass, here it's just matches with no real opening, both players will once again have to be strong on every single half-chance.
