What's wrong with you, Jaume?
Withdrawal of the Spaniard following a withdrawal at Queen's for... wisdom tooth surgery!
And before that? A somewhat weak match against Damm where he gets attacked on second serve and has a lot of trouble breaking.
The Spaniard is gradually getting back to a decent level in my opinion after his return from injury, but he’s still a bit short. We used to say he’d become more of a hard-court player than a clay-courter, but what about grass? Last year he lost in 3 to Carlito at Queen’s and beat Bublik at Wim. So… In a favorable match-up for him, I’m always wary. And here, against a Zizou who tends to lose clarity and/or force things when his powerful game starts misfiring, I’m a bit cautious. The thing is, Zizou has just played a great match against Fritzou. A genuinely good level, but he had nothing to lose.
So we’re in the classic case of: “Zizou is playing better at the moment, but the match-up is a bit risky if he gets bogged down in his flaws.”
On grass and in summer conditions, Munar will have fewer chances to grind, but I’ve already been so disappointed by the Belgian in this kind of match-up that it’s kind of put me off!
