Even before looking at the stats, his footwork already reassures me. His movement could be very good on this surface. In terms of the grass-court mindset, we’re not quite there, but the surfaces are still becoming pretty similar. When you look at an Atmane/Medvedev match last week, it’s more about rallies than about serve-and-volley.

However, that doesn’t mean that when you know and use grass-court patterns, you don’t have an edge. Pinnington Jones knows how to cheap & charge, he knows the zones to hit on the volley, when to come forward to put pressure on, etc., etc., etc... He played at a good level against Shapo and could (should?) very well have won. On top of that, he’s a real competitor and never gives up.

Camilo is coming here to test himself a bit and get ready for Wimbledon, before quickly heading back to clay. Pinnington is lacking a bit of power, but he makes up for it really well with his craftiness. He has to win this match to get his tournament going and pick up a bit of confidence. I trust him.
