Samuel has two speeds
There’s a before and after LL with Toby Samuel. Before, he lacked solidity. Since he got his LL status here, he’s been playing without fear, at home, with a big serve/forehand. He’s going to keep boldly going for it.
On the other side, JM is surprising all of us. After his first win here, against Collignon I remind you, we could have said okay, fine. But now he’s following it up looking super comfortable, and he’s even beating the no. 1 seeds in doubles with Carabelli. It’s insane!
As a lefty who’s solid from the baseline and who has really understood how to play on grass (granted, slow grass), he has the tools to neutralize Samuel’s power and aggressiveness on serve and forehand. I really like the match-up for him!
