Ah!
Are you worried about Fonseca?
Not me! In any case, in terms of injuries, he's a guy who is extremely careful. He felt some shoulder pain during practice in Eastbourne and preferred to pull out. He played Halle just before, with an absolutely horrible match against Hanfmann, but he did make the doubles final. I think it's more of a blip than an overall bad level on grass. But I don’t see him playing very well on the surface anytime soon. Not natural in the short game, not a game that tends to move forward, a bit too much topspin on the forehand, and his movement worries me a bit.
On the other side, a grass-court specialist, playing his last Wimbledon (it’ll be his fifteenth). With Fonseca’s ML around 1.2, my eyes are naturally drawn to RBA bets. The Spaniard hasn’t played since Halle. I understand that he might rest the week just before Wim, but two weeks before is a bit suspect. He doesn’t seem to have played any exhibition matches. And almost every year, he plays Mallorca! On top of that, he took an MTO in his last match. Basically, it doesn’t smell good. I’m waiting to see if he’ll play an exhibition at the Boodles....
Otherwise, of course he can bother Fonseca with his grass-court savvy. But on the other hand, he no longer has the engine to absorb sledgehammer forehands for 2 hours. We saw it clearly against Giron in Stuttgart, the game is now a bit too fast for him...
