Medvedev's Grand Slam Struggles

At least Daniil won't get stopped by Bonzi in the first round this time...

Both players are entering Wimbledon in questionable form. Medvedev almost got knocked out early in Hertogenbosch by a local, Boogard, which, of course, brings back memories of his match against Van Rijthoven a few years back. A loss in the semifinals to Majchrzak (who ended up winning the tournament)! Two straightforward victories against Etcheverry and Atmane before losing to an inspired Altmaier in the Halle quarterfinals. Altmaier and Majchrzak were able to really trouble Medvedev with variety, especially the slice! Medvedev actually faced Cilic just two weeks ago in Hertogenbosch and won rather easily, despite dropping a set (Cilic was quite erratic). While Cilic can be a tough opponent, his rather one-dimensional style makes it a rather good matchup for Medvedev!

As for Cilic, it's safe to say his form this year hasn't been good. He did win two matches against Shapovalov and Borges in Hertogenbosch, but he was actually about to lose them both in straight-sets, saved by a collapse from Shapovalov and a rain break in the second-set tiebreak against Borges. In Queen's, he got rather dominated by a good Humbert, which is no shame... but adding it all up, there's a lack of actual good matches in the grass swing. We have a great reference point for this upcoming match since we have odds from their match in Hertogenbosch, which is recent! Will Medvedev benefit more from BO5 in a Grand Slam setting, or will his disastrous results in multiple consecutive slams play tricks on him?
