What’s going to happen now? He plays at 5 p.m. on Monday. He finished his final around 4:30 p.m. in Mallorca, on Saturday then. Probably a little evening out, probably leaving for London on Sunday. Two-hour flight. A light practice (if that), then it’s already Monday. The grass in Mallorca has really improved this year, I think. But now we’re arriving on a billiard table! It’ll be slower, with a lower bounce. It might actually be good because he did struggle a bit dealing with the blows from powerful guys coming right at him. Here he’ll have a bit more freedom to dictate play, especially since on the other side, despite his progress in attacking phases, JM Cerundolo is not the most powerful of players.

Let’s talk about this guy for a second. He impresses me. He’s talented. He’s really adapted well to grass. He’s got that lefty serve/forehand combo, he comes to the net when he can, he moves well… honestly, I could totally see him putting up some resistance against Foki. In his last match against Samuel, he came in a bit tight, and ran into a guy who was serving incredibly well and cutting off his resources from the baseline with aggressive play followed by coming to the net whenever possible.

Anyway, we know Foki’s strategy by heart in this kind of match-up: he’s going to come out very aggressive so he doesn’t get dragged into long rallies. He did it against Norrie, against Moutet… THE question is: can he keep that up for 3 sets?
