That’s for sure, but there are limits! Manna is forced to wear his opponents down, to literally grind them, before they give in. The brand-new, slippery early-tournament grass suits his slice serve really well, and his skimming trajectories, especially on the backhand side.

How do you beat him? You go after him, and/or you out-grind him. A guy who can hang with him from the baseline and at the same time has the power to make the difference when he chooses to, that’s ideal. Like a good Diallo, for example. In that mode, I don’t find Titouan bad at all. But his straight-sets loss to Royer last year brings back some memories. And Manna is much better prepared to do what it takes in the crucial moments.
