Watch out for Virtanen?

The Finn is dangerous on grass...

Virtanen's game is made for indoor hardcourts and grass! He has just about as many matches on indoor hardcourt as he does on outdoor hardcourt and clay combined - which is quite unusual! Well, with his game, it makes sense, doesn't it? Someone who serves and hits big, but has low rally tolerance and not-so-great movement! He has played 14 grass matches this season already, making two finals and coming through qualies here. He did make the second round here two years ago, where he played a really great five-setter against Tommy Paul, just barely losing in the end. And yes, we have Shelton, who has played 7 three-setters out of 8 matches so far in the grass season! It all points to a big battle, doesn't it? However, let's keep in mind that Shelton's matches were on fast courts in Stuttgart and Halle, and he faced a lot of good opponents. We also know that he has a tendency to up his level for Grand Slams. Still, if Virtanen plays well, it might be hard for Shelton to really control it, especially since we know his return is not always great. We did see Shelton's "Grand Slam Aura" take a hit at RG with a straight-sets loss to Collignon, but he was able to outplay him from the baseline - something I'm not sure Virtanen can do...
