A new Giron?

Lestienne out, and now Marcos Giron finally wins a tight match!

Here’s a much better version of Marcos. He held the important points well against Moutet, and that’s mainly what people had been criticizing him for recently. Because the level is there.

Here he is against another Frenchman. Quentin Halys also got past an opponent who wasn’t in top form. To his credit, he was clutch at the right moments to turn around a few situations that weren’t going too well. The key against him: being able to defend well, or go after him first.

Marcos is a mix of the two. He attacked Moutet effectively and relentlessly. He’s got a good center of gravity to move well on grass, and his legendary running forehand. On the other hand, both players are looking for confidence after a not-so-great recent run, and to me this reeks of alternating momentums.
