The future is beautiful
I can't wait for Arthur to be able to play without getting injured, his level is just completely unreal.
Comeback match for Arthur on grass and against an in-form Collignon, result? 3/0 Fils with a pretty huge margin over his opponent, the perfect match without overplaying either. It’s insane and he’s supposed to be able to play even better later on once he gets more rhythm. Maybe he’ll feel the ball a bit less and have heavy legs for R2, but his break wasn’t long this time so I actually see him as able to keep it going. It’s simple: if he keeps up this level and doesn’t break down physically, he’s capable of beating pretty much everyone.
Berrettini didn’t have the same R1, far from it actually. The Italian got dragged into a long match against Wawrinka and, for his comeback from injury, he’s feeling good too, but he had a little dip in energy during his match. Not reassuring. I’m not going to remind you of his history at Wimbledon, he’s capable of going very far on this surface, but I’m not sure he’s sharp enough physically yet to string battles together. Against Stan it was long but with almost no rallies, this time he’s going to have someone really pushing back and he won’t be as comfortable on his service games…
It’s hard for me to picture Berrettini winning given the level on the other side of the net; even physically, he’s the one most likely to collapse…
