Forget that you don’t stand a chance...
What an incredible tournament from Struffy, reaching the best stage of his life in a Grand Slam at 36 years old... patience always pays off!
But age catches up with you sooner or later too. He’s been through exhausting matches, like that crazy match against Nakashima. What’s impressive is that with a game that’s still pretty “hit or miss,” he managed to keep a fairly consistent level throughout the tournament. His weapons: the serve of course, the volley, and enormous pressure put on his opponents on practically every groundstroke thanks to his powerful shots, almost hit at 100% every time.
Against Jannik, it’s hard to believe in his chances because the Italian is the chief steamroller, which is the perfect matchup against Struff. It’s the aggressor getting aggressed. But the Italian is having a more than strange tournament. Apparently some forehand issues, then he’s overdoing it a bit with very risky service returns... And his opponents can feel he’s shaky too!
Up against a Struff who’s serving bombs and has absolutely nothing to lose in the biggest tournament of his life, we already know where the value is!
