And due to two good wins, he was made a favorite against Travaglia. Well, what happened? The experienced Italian showed up and schooled him, the same way the Czech had done in his previous matches. Now, I'm not saying that the current level of Travaglia belongs in a "higher tier", but overall, I find it quite an interesting observation. A player can look so good against certain opponents and then run into an opponent on fire or a higher level and end up looking helpless themselves. Anyway, I found Travaglia to be really good in his match; everything was simply working for him. He is now in his "twilight years" as a tennis player, which means he plays with a lot of experience and surely not a lot of expectations. Unfortunately for him, he is facing Navone in the second round. I've found the Argentinian to be quite good lately, even on grass, even if he struggles with ending up on the winning side of matches.\n\nNavone will be coming from Wimbledon without any matches on clay since then, so that's a positive for the Italian at least. While it's truly a challenge to penetrate his defenses in these conditions, I do find that Travaglia's experience and tennis IQ, compared to a younger player, could help a bit against Navone. While winning seems like a tough task, perhaps he can make it at least somewhat competitive. Now, this match will be on Centre Court, which is probably a negative for Travaglia, conditions-wise. However, he is entering this match with absolutely nothing to lose, and while Navone is quite calm and relaxed, he can have some dips, especially in the early rounds.
