So, guys, this is quite a complicated analysis. Both Argentinians are in good form, as you’ve seen. Burruchaga has come through his first two rounds with much more ease. Carabelli, on the other hand, has scraped through two tight matches. He’s done really well overall despite a drop in intensity in at least half a set. Even so, that doesn’t necessarily mean he has to be considered the underdog here. He takes a while to find his game, but when he does, he turns into the tough, gritty Carabelli we know. His win over Carreño Busta proves that once again. His opponent today, Burruchaga, might be a slight notch above because he’s in great form in this tournament. Like Carreño Busta, but maybe just a little better, he combines great defense with almost error-free tennis and a kind of aggressive discipline. He did, of course, beat a probably slightly tired Cobolli, but he did it in style. I understand why he’s a slight favorite in this matchup, since Carabelli hasn’t shown consistency at his best level in these first two matches, whereas Burruchaga has stayed true to his top level. He’s got that little extra on the attacking side, in my opinion, compared to his opponent today. Head-to-head, it’s simple: it’s three all. It’s pretty hard to separate them. The two players have often faced each other in the later rounds of Challenger events on clay. Sometimes one wins, sometimes the other, with only one match going to three sets. I lean more towards Burruchaga, but I’d be wary of this match for a pre-match bet here. I’d even recommend only betting live.
