This one looks familiar...

Oh yeah, we have a rematch from Winston-Salem 2025!

I remember their meeting in Winston-Salem last year quite well! Mpetshi barely survived in the first round against Pedro Martinez (7-6 in the third), then went on to beat Muller and Medjedovic. Botic had won four matches already, three of them in a deciding set. Well, anyway... Botic won the match somewhat easily, holding GMP to a 68% first serve points won and just 37% on the second, breaking him three times in two sets. VDZ is actually not a bad returner; he has quick reflexes... he would not have all his big wins against top players otherwise ;)

Most importantly, both players are coming into this match without any proper preparation. GMP's last match was a first-round loss to Hanfmann at Wimbledon over a month ago. As for Botic, he played Båstad and Estoril (where he wasn't that convincing), followed by a Bundesliga match against Giustino about a week ago... not exactly ideal prep for the hardcourt swing, is it? Everything is pointing toward a low-quality, scrappy match... between two players who are probably not near their best at the moment. In a matchup like this, the deciding factor could then simply be: who is the player who double-faults at the wrong time? Could it be that one of them is not even physically ready in some regard? Possibly. Not the most exciting match it seems, anyway, let's have a look at the odds if we can find something interesting!
