Mejia's Momentum?

We are starting to see some good things from the Colombian...

Well, I'm not saying he is a world-beater yet, but I'm seeing some positive steps in the right direction for him. It kind of started in Wimbledon, where he won four matches in a row as an underdog, followed by a good effort against Zheng! Since then, he went back home to Colombia and won a Challenger, followed by a loss in Los Cabos and a win yesterday in qualifying against Trungelliti, here in Montreal. I found him quite decent; his Argentinian opponent is having a great season, even if he is not the toughest match on a hard court. Mejia is a player who can perform well on every surface; he has played a lot on hard courts. In the past, we have mainly seen him put up some good fights in Davis Cup matches as a big underdog. This indicates that he is a player who can play well in the tough moments, and now he is feeling confident as well.

Landaluce is one of many younger talents! We have seen some big tournaments and matches from him this year. While I do think that this matchup suits him, since Mejia is solid but does not really excel at anything (Landaluce should simply be stronger than him in most areas)... he has to find his form a bit. He has four losses in a row, and with the specific Montreal conditions against a player coming through a three-set qualifying match, it might not be completely smooth sailing, despite what should be a comfortable matchup...
