Where is the value?
Both are coming from the qualifiers, but with different trajectories at the moment. Damm is having a great North American hard-court swing: a decisive tiebreak won on mental strength against Shelbayh, a solid performance against Shelton last week in Washington, and the qualies wrapped up convincingly. He’s playing at home, without the pressure of being the underdog, in a context that could really reveal him. Tsitsipas, on the other hand, does seem to be finding genuine energy again — you can feel him come back to life, and objectively he’s moving better than in recent months.
The match will probably turn on one crucial point: will Damm’s serve and heavy lefty forehand hit Tsitsipas’s one-handed backhand hard enough, which is by far his most well-documented weakness?
The legitimate doubt is about the Greek’s current form level: if his backhand is as solid as his resurgence suggests, Damm’s tactical masterstroke might not be enough against a player who is simply stronger overall.
2.70 on Damm / 1.52 on Tsitsipas → raw implied probabilities of 37% / 65.8% (book’s margin ~2.8%). Once you remove the vig, that gives a true favorite at around 64% for Tsitsipas. So the market isn’t ignoring the Greek’s form — he’s clearly priced as the favorite, but not overwhelmingly so, which leaves a real window for the tactical angle on Damm’s side.
I don’t think the price is outrageous either way. And we’ve already seen Tsitsi trip over himself against a bad match-up, despite coming off a good performance...
