Clearly, Ben showed an extraordinary level against Mensik. Lots of aggressiveness, even though Mensik is known to be a great counterpuncher. Smart play too, repeatedly targeting Mensik’s forehand on serve. In short…

Against Tien, he struggles more. They’ve played twice and it’s 2–0 for Tien. The match-up is trickier. But still, I don’t feel like Tien is in great form. His elbow is bothering him on serve. And even if he can extend rallies and accelerate when needed, this Ben Shelton can also hang in the rallies and pull the trigger when it counts, with a more polished game than Tien at the net on top of that. Not to mention the experience at this stage of the competition, and Ben’s desire to get a bit of revenge and make sure Tien doesn’t become his “daddy” ;)
