Coleman about to make a move?

Watch out, Wong from Hong Kong is starting to fire up a bit...

Well, how the tables have turned. I get to preview one of the players that Marcos has followed a lot since last year. In exchange, he gets to take Brooksby off my hands for a bit! First of all, we know what we are getting with Wong... intensity and emotions! While he has been a bit quieter this year (after having a breakthrough year in 2025), we still saw a good run to the quarterfinals back in Delray Beach. Two weeks ago, it was not that bad to reach the semifinals in Los Cabos either... beating Lehecka and Brooksby before losing to the champion, Gea. He did not play the week after, so he was able to arrive here quite fresh, making it through qualifications nicely. As shown in his results, Wong has a playstyle that can actually beat good ATP-level players, which is something that can not be said of all players at challenger level! Not only the playstyle, but also the mentality. What immediately comes to mind is his win against Shelton in Miami last year. In fact, he beat Altmaier in the first round there, 6-4, 6-3, as a 3.20+ underdog ;) I remember that match; Wong's attacking style suited the Miami conditions a lot better.

I have mentioned that Daniel has improved a bit offensively this year, but I'm not sure I like the conditions here for him against Wong, once again. There is another thing that I want to add... Altmaier tends to be someone who can play long matches and show up with a big fight the next day, but that was not the case at all in Montreal. He had a big fight against Vukic and had nothing left the next day against Nakashima. Truth is, Altmaier simply has not gotten a lot of matches under his belt since the grass season ended, also dealing with some injuries. I see this as a good chance for Wong to keep going in a matchup that should suit him once again in the conditions, along with some momentum. Now, the question is, what are the odds in this meeting, a year later?
