Berrettini, is he back on track?

Nothing less certain for me. I agreed with Marcos on R1, and I still do. His match against Droguet was not very encouraging. The Frenchman didn’t play very well either. The Italian deserves credit for managing to raise his level when he had to in the deciding set, but before that, it really wasn’t great. Where? A bit everywhere, but mostly in terms of attitude I’d say. You can quickly tell when Berrett is there to battle, and here, closed face, not a word for two and a half sets...

On Jiri’s side, it’s customary to say he needs a small warm-up match in every tournament. But he was decently good in Montreal, and fast outdoor hard courts with a low bounce are actually very cool for him.

No official match played between the two men. It’s going to be heavy hitting, and they’ll look to lock Berrettini on the backhand side. A good Berrettini could very well handle the match-up, but right now I’m struggling to picture him at his best today. If Lehecka doesn’t show up too flat, I’ll back him!
