The cardboard match?

I honestly think that father Trungelliti is going to give in physically. That’s what we’re all saying. And now, the rest day matters less when you’re “old.” But in an already not very physical (but tense) match like the one against Medjedovic, he was already showing some serious signs. Before facing the Russian wall, that’s not exactly reassuring.

Fortunately for him, Daniil has lost his spark. He doesn’t know “if he’ll ever find it again,” he says. He’s also changed coaches. He’s on trial with Golubev. He’s looking for what’s not working. Given his last match, maybe “the worst of his career” as he puts it, Daniil is hitting rock bottom. In decent form, with his playing style against a slightly tired Trungelliti, we’d have seen value in his odds almost at 1.18.

Now, I hope he’s going to go back to basics. Big serve, mental stability, and a wall from the baseline. He’s got the perfect match to regain confidence. His desire to be hyper aggressive at times has maybe made him lose a bit of his DNA. Let’s see what happens…
