Bigfoe is on fire.

Tiafoe is having a huge start to the tournament and there are still some heavy hitters waiting for him, but we’re in the night session and anything is possible at home.

Third straight night session for Tiafoe, who's having a blast in Cincinnati and has just produced another high-level match against Tien. Small warning sign with the hip, though, and he didn’t sound very reassuring in the post-match interview. That will need to be monitored and, for that reason, I’m quite skeptical about betting on him. That said, he’s playing very well, feels at home here and is in great form, on top of having already beaten Auger-Aliassime recently.

It’s not a match-up he particularly enjoys, as he struggles to read the serve of big servers like Auger-Aliassime. And Félix was really clutch in their last meeting.

On the Canadian’s side, it took him about a set to start playing his best tennis yesterday, but his start to the tournament is still pretty solid overall. I’d just be wary of the switch from daytime conditions to the night session ahead, because Tiafoe is already used to it. And maybe the American will start stronger before dropping in intensity.

The level of attitude and intent shows that Félix is relatively confident about his game this year. He still has room to raise his level. I’m not overly excited because in a night session, the court plays slower. And apart from his serve, I don’t think he’s better than Tiafoe from the baseline, especially right now. For me, it’s really going to depend on his first serve, because if he’s deprived of it or if Tiafoe manages to get more returns in than usual, the American will really have a shot to do something.
