Is Walton winning again?

The Australian had gotten past Buse quite easily in their match a few days ago in Cincinnati.

I’m going to more or less repeat what I saw during that match. Walton showed more solidity from the baseline while also getting more free points on his serve. I found the Australian true to what he usually does: a very simple but effective game, and above all he’s more confident than Buse. The Peruvian, on the other hand, seemed very tense and nervous during this match. You can feel that, from his side, there’s really no confidence at all, and that he quickly gets frustrated by his level of play and probably also by the surface, which doesn’t really suit him.

What could change compared to their previous match? The conditions are almost the same. I’d say the bounce is a bit higher here, and depending on the courts, it’s also a tad slower. But we’re not changing the conditions drastically, to the point of reshuffling the deck, in my opinion. It should be more or less the same type of match we had last week. I think that intrinsically, Buse is a much better player than Walton, and that even on hard courts, when he’s at his full potential, he’s supposed to win. The problem is that right now, he’s lacking legs, and he’s also lacking confidence. And that really shows in his game. On those points, I clearly give a big advantage to Walton, who could repeat the same performance as a few days ago and take advantage of a Buse far from his best level. Or, the Peruvian could also regain a bit more energy and desire, while adjusting his game tactically. And in that case, there would be a great opportunity for him.
