The Duck again!

The unstoppable Duck is quietly advancing his pieces without anyone calling check. His last two victims are normally players who should beat him, but on the one hand, they’re not in their best form (unlike the Duck), and on the other hand, the Duck handled the hot moments brilliantly to get through in straight sets in each match.

Broadly speaking, Mrozsan falls into that type of player: he should beat the Duck, but he’s not at his best. The Hungarian is still a bit too inconsistent. But he has one quality that’s not recognized often enough: he doesn’t give up. Even with his air of a guy stripped of emotions, he waits, keeps going, and moves forward. The win over Damm is a good example, because he was literally getting hammered in set 1, but he didn’t panic.

For a first meeting between the two men, I think a lot depends on the level the Hungarian will bring to the court. Because he’s the one who has a bit more in his hands. Yes, the Duck is good, he attacks well with his serve and forehand, neutralizes with his backhand slice, but in theory, Maroz’s ball striking is better and he should be the one dictating many rallies on this medium-fast surface.
