Should we worry about Svajda?

Can the American find some form in time?

Maybe I am being a bit too harsh, but I have not found Svajda to be his best lately, even if he has managed a few wins. Despite a close scoreline, I did not like his performance against Bellucci. Then again, it was a match late in the night session with specific conditions, and it seems like the Italian is actually coming back rather strong. So yes, perhaps I should be a bit more lenient with him, although I still feel like he can raise his level at least a decent amount. He has played a lot on American hardcourts, but most of his wins have been on Challenger level, where his weaknesses (combination of consistency and lack of power) are a bit more "hidden". Don't get me wrong, his first serve and forehand are not bad. It's just that I find him a bit too erratic, a bit too often currently.

Having said all of this about Svajda, it has to be said that Altmaier is not at his best either. He has three decent wins in three tournaments, but I don't think his losses are that bad. Completely fatigued against Nakashima, a tough matchup against Musetti, and then perhaps a bit worse against Buse. At the risk of sounding like a broken record (and clinging on to history), we know that he tends to raise his level in Grand Slams. Nonetheless, I kind of like him in these matchups; against players who are not at their best, he can really bother them off with his game and resilience, as long as he doesn't spray too many errors himself...
