Explosion?
Can we expect Wu to do what Safiullin didn’t? Meaning really go at Carlito! Go hit into him a bit, take the Spaniard by surprise with pace, throw him off, take away his time so he can’t set up his game. With the low bounce at Flushing Meadows, you could compare it to Wimbledon where Wu really shook up Djoko this year, right? And everyone was saying, “wow, Wu is so strong, what a wasted talent…”. Then right after that, he loses to Kozlov in Newport… So we’ve basically got the optimal conditions, I’d say, for Wu to bring out a really high level. But if he’s not on, it could very quickly turn into a big pile of unforced errors.
Nah because on his side Carlito is slowly starting to crank it up. I think Faria played a bit too far behind his baseline, and the Spaniard really rolled through the last three sets. For me, it’s Safiullin who should’ve been the one to bother him!
