Easy win?
What could a Shimabukuro, a wildcard in his home country, do against the good current version of Shapo?
I admit that ever since his grass-court season, Bukuro’s level barely moves the needle for me. There’s that first set against Rinderknech at the US Open, but it didn’t last. On grass, his game really stood out thanks to his movement and his returning quality. On hard courts, he already plays worse, and he’s a bit shaky on his service games when it comes to maintaining a high level. So I do think he’s capable of bothering Shapo on return, but then he’ll have to back it up. And as I said in the intro, we’ve got a good, resilient Shapo at the moment. And in the rallies, he’s also above him...
